Block, Gruen win Wednesday slots.
Ratings: It's a soft return for 10's Playing for Keeps. Nine wins Wednesday.

The Block comfortably claimed its timeslot last night winning with 872,000 viewers over The Bachelorette at 667,000.
While Nine topped the 25-54 demo, 10 topped 16-39.
Julia Zemiro’s Home Delivery (522,000), 7:30 (466,000), Motorbike Cops (441,000) and Highway Patrol (423,000) all followed variously across the hour.
Gruen then led at 8:30pm with 728,000 then Frayed (440,000), Britain’s Got Talent (329,000), Love Island (312,000), Playing for Keeps (297,000) and Struggle Street (292,000).
Nine network won Wednesday with 27.1% then Seven 26.3%, 10 20.0%, ABC 18.0% and SBS 8.6%.
Nine News was 803,000 / 765,000 for Nine then A Current Affair (704,000) and Hot Seat (450,000 / 274,000). Grand Hotel played in 3 cities to just 63,000.
Seven News was #1 with 931,000 / 887,000 for Seven then Home and Away (562,000), The Chase (549,000 / 327,000).
The Project was 487,000 / 294,000 for 10 then 10 News First (350,000). Celebrity Name Game was 189,000 and BH90210 was low at just 135,000 in a new slot.
ABC News (607,000), QI (218,000) and The Drum (163,000) also comprised ABC’s night.
On SBS it was also Britain’s Ancient Tracks (248,000), SBS World News (137,000) and The Looming Tower (80,000).
NCIS: LA led multichannels at 172,000.
Sunrise: 264,000
Today: 173,000
News Breakfast: 111,000 /46,000

So is the BH90210 to Wednesday night permanent or was it a one off ?

Playing For Keeps got a timeslot with little competition last year and it didn’t rate great but did surprisingly well with viewers <40, which is why it got renewed. Gruen did OK in that slot, everything on commercial TV was around 300k.
BH90210 only rated 230k last Tuesday with The Masked Singer as a lead-in, which is why it was bumped to Wed. to make way for a Masked Singer behind the scenes and a repeat of the NCIS season premiere.
Ouch at those Playing For Keeps numbers. Given the lack of promotion when compared to last year, compounded by the less than stellar ratings for its premiere season (I’m baffled that it got renewed with such numbers), I don’t know what else 10 were expecting. BH90210 changing timeslots with virtually no notice (it didn’t even get a Bumped article on this site!) it’s no wonder it bombed. I’m surprised it even rated as well as it did given the lack of notice and the abysmal lead-in.
They should have played PFK or BH90210 at 9.30pm Monday with HYPBA as a lead-in where they would have had the potential to attract higher numbers. 10’s stand-up specials never rate particularly well anyway, and would have attracted similar numbers on Wednesday night with little promotion.
It’s either renew Playing For Keeps or setup yet another drama. Sometimes it’s better just to renew.
They have to meet their quotas after all.
I completely understand that, but scripted Australian shows aren’t produced like clockwork like U.S. free-to-air shows are.
Once the production wraps up, everyone goes their separate ways, sets get dismantled, and networks often sit on completed shows for months, sometimes over a year or two before broadcast, so cost-wise, I don’t think it makes much of a difference except being easier on the writers as they have the groundwork already laid out for them, but production-wise, I imagine almost everything requires reassembly.
Enjoyed Frayed. Recognised many of the Newcastle landmarks as I live not far from there.
Probably a little long though…35 mins eac ep would have been plenty.
I watched the first season of Playing for Keeps. I thought it was okay, nothing special.
Didn’t watch it last night, if I do end up watching, it will probably be over the summer when I can binge it.
I tried to watch Frayed. I lasted about 2 minutes. Those 2 minutes were dreadful. Had to change channels & found BH90210 (thanks 10 for telling us you changed the day).
I’m glad Frayed did well in the 9.00 o’clock spot it was very likeable, maybe a few switched over from PFK
A shame PFK go such low numbers. Great episode, talented cast. Sometimes it’s great just to have a show that’s fun. Sex, drugs, affairs, footballers and a touch of mystery! What’s not to like.
Have to say I struggled with the episode.
Playing for Keeps will be on Struggle Street if it keeps up that number!
No wonder 90210 rated that low given Ten didn’t promote the change of day and time at all. Most people probably thought it wasn’t on this week.
It’s so annoying that they changed the day – I think it went much better following The Masked Singer, and not against the ABC’s comedy block which is always strong.
I was surprised with the change too, I thought it wasn’t on this week due to TMS special. I only discovered by my EPG last night so I recorded it.

Hi David, Channel 7 used to produce an array of graphs showing their performance compared to that of 10 and 9. You used to publish these. Have they been forthcoming with such material this year. I’m sure it would show a resurgence by 10 over the last few months.
Seven and Nine used to send around news and breakfast shows… sometimes one would get annoyed with the other and return fire. I used to post them as a bit of Friday fun. They stopped sending a long time ago.
