Block room reveals beat Masked Singer

Ratings: Room reveals upstage singer reveals. Love Island up on 2018 launch but third in its slot.

The Block‘s room reveals, shifted to Monday due to NRL, has managed to beat The Masked Singer.

The Block was #1 at 979,000 viewers ahead of The Masked Singer which was 700,000 before rising to 880,000 for the moment Darren McMullen was unmasked. The Block‘s win was even more impressive given it did not split-code numbers. It also topped 25-54 demos.

7:30 was next on 573,000 then Australian Story (559,000) and The Real Dirty Dancing at 493,000 (rising to 528,000 for “final performance”).

Later Have You Been Paying Attention? was a timeslot winner at 823,000 and it topped the 16-39 demos. That was ahead of Four Corners on 542,000 and the Love Island launch at 494,000. That’s up considerably on 2018’s launch due to the shift from 9GO! to Nine channel.

Nine Network won Monday with 29.3% then Seven 25.5%, 10 21.1%, ABC 16.5% and SBS 7.6%.

Nine News was 936,000 / 867,000 for Nine then A Current Affair (766,000). Hot Seat drew 442,000 / 251,000.

Seven News won its slot at 958,000 / 933,000 for Seven then Home and Away (638,000) and The Chase (524,000 / 304,000). The Rookie drew 302,000 and SWAT was 241,000.

ABC News (635,000), Media Watch (468,000), Q&A (318,000) and The Drum (166,000) also comprised ABC’s night.

On SBS it was How the Victorians Built Britain (209,000), 24 Hours in Emergency (200,000), 24 Hours in Police Custody (162,000) and SBS World News (145,000).

7mate movie Enemy of the State topped multichannels at 132,000.

Breakfast shows were a little under due to public holiday in some states.

      1. MA15+ remember David. Many modern TV’s would’ve ‘blacked out’ for a pin code bang on the EPG start time for LI (at the end of The Block)… And for a darn good reason! 😉 Just one theory.

          1. Still doesn’t mean they’re all watching (be it not allowed by parents if minors, 15-17, or dislike the content/subject matter themselves)

      2. I imagine that even 16-39’s would watch a Room Reveal on a larger screen to see it in all it’s glory (for want of a better word), rather than on a smaller second screening one which they may have reverted to for Love Island. Guess only those figures will show if that was the case and if 9Now lifted or YouTube got good hits as both did last year for that demographic making it amultiplatform hit for Nine.

    1. I think Love Island AU did incredibly well; it maintained over half of it’s lead-in audience which is impressive for a show that was on air until after 10pm; remember it rated higher than Dirty Dancing which aired at 7:30pm on 7.

TV ratings in Australia significantly drop after 9pm; Love Island AU is a massive success for a 8:30pm show and will continue to build (as it did last year in AU and does every year in the UK)

    1. Public holiday was in NSW, Qld, SA and ACT. So they didn’t remember the Masked Singer was on. Really? They also probably didn’t remember The Block and Dirty Dancing were on also.

    1. I did too (much to my surprise!). I’ve never seen the movie, but I think that the TV show was good enough that you didn’t need the movie for a reference – it’s famous enough that you feel as though you’ve already seen it.
It was fun, light entertainment. We all need some fun in our lives.

      1. It was a show my whole family could happily watch together from 11 year old to 40 year old. Not stacks of those anymore, but a few good ones on at the moment.

  1. Part of me wonders what the former members of TISM would make of this Masked Singer business, having arguably paved the way for elaborate, over-the-top, ridiculous & brilliant disguises. Definitely prefer Masked Singer to the Block or any of the MAFS-type shows.
