Felicity Huffman has reported to federal prison in California on Tuesday morning to begin her two-week sentence for paying to cheat on her daughter’s SAT test.
The former Desperate Housewives star pleaded guilty to one count of fraud, admitting that she paid US$15,000 to consultant Rick Singer to boost her daughter’s SAT score. Judge Idira Talwani sentenced her last month to 14 days in prison, plus a US$30,000 fine and one year of supervised release.
“Felicity Huffman reported today for sentencing to the Federal Correctional Institution in Dublin, CA,” her representative said in a statement. “Ms. Huffman is prepared to serve the term of imprisonment Judge Talwani ordered as one part of the punishment she imposed for Ms. Huffman’s actions. She will begin serving the remainder of the sentence Judge Talwani imposed — one year of supervised release, with conditions including 250 hours of community service — when she is released.”
Huffman was the first parent to be sentenced in Operation Varsity Blues, the sprawling federal investigation of cheating in elite college admissions.
Full House actress Lori Loughlin has pleaded not guilty to a similar charge.

I’m guessing she is probably away from all the heavies and would be kept pretty safe. Yeah I know she did a stupid thing and also has humiliated her family, especially her daughter but I look here in this country what people don’t go to jail for and I think was this worse?
Anyway it just goes to show, no matter how famous, rich or successful you are money won’t be able to get you everything.
She probably make a movie out of all of this?

I feel sorry for her. Prison should be for people who have committed violent crimes. The only thing she hurt was her career.
Not true. Her crime hurt people who were turned away from the college because her daughter’s SAT score was fraudulently higher than others. She also hurt her daughter’s prospects.
No such thing as a victimless crime.
Yeah but it’s not like she physically hurt someone. Definitely shouldn’t have received jail time.
I disagree – I think a few months, a more suitable punishment – in a minimum security centre
Then at least give her a bigger fine? $30,000 is nothing for someone that rich.
