Upcoming SBS factual Great Australian Railway Journeys has been pushed back to 2020.
Michael Portillo filmed the series in 2018 including trips on the Indian Pacific and The Ghan. It was announced at SBS Upfronts last November for 2019 but sources confirm it will now screen next year.
SBS is also yet to confirm dates for Luke Nguyen aboard the Reunification Express in Vietnam, Luke on a Train.

It’s premiering in the UK on BBC2 next Saturday 26th October
I’m sure there’s another Hitler series that SBS Programming can grab to fill the void. As to why this 2018 Train series would be delayed is a whole other question …
But Why? she wails in her best reality TV voice…(after becoming addicted to the genre though 10’s offerings this year) ?
I believe that pic is of the new very fast train track between Adelaide and Perth.
I hope to see more slow TV railway journey programming on SBS. The railway slow TV programming was limited to The Ghan, The Indian Pacific and North to South: NZ’s Wildest Journey. It would be nice to see more of the intercity, regional and urban railway journeys for slow TV.
Michael Portillo is good, however, there is less focus on the railways and the railway operations and it is more about the stories beyond the railways in the settlements based upon a guidebook. That’s what I thought of Great British Railway Journeys.
No biggie; the general public is used to waiting for delayed trains.
