Jonathan Coleman: “Enjoy every day as it comes”

Studio 10 funny man is keeping spirits up , & taking treatment after revealing his cancer has spread.

Jonathan Coleman is keeping spirits up and focussing on health after revealing his cancer has spread to his lower back and shoulder, more than a year after telling Studio 10 he had gone into remission.

“They’ve [found] a few bits in my lower back and a little bit on my shoulder,” he said. “But it’s all treatable. I found out a few months ago so I’m already having extra treatment.

“I feel great. I’m not in any pain, other than old age! I’ve been really healthy with food and exercise recently and I’ve lost 22kg – taking me just under 100kg.”

Jono has been focusing on a healthier diet, treatment, and exercise, and plans to raise money for prostate and testicular cancer as part of Movember.

Coleman, 63, kept a prostate cancer diagnosis private, undergoing radiotherapy and chemotherapy, before finally going into remission in time for Christmas in 2017.

“I think my resolution is to have lots of fun times with my family and all just enjoy the time we have, however long that is in the eyes of the big guy up in the sky,” he said at the end of 2018. “My resolution is just to enjoy every day as it comes, like Baz DuBois does.

“Like millions of other Australians do, like people who are suffering from disease… You live on and there’s always someone else who’s got it a lot worse than you have.”

Best wishes, Jono!

  1. Jono was our topt talent on “Simon Townsend’s Wonder World!” back in the ’80s – a man who had the ability to turn an average story into ripper TV. Plus he’s always been a genuinely nice guy as well as a great talent. He really should have been Studio 10’s secret weapon, just as he was ours. The show would have done a lot better if TEN had been canny enough to use his talent and his proven fan base properly, instead of leaving him in the wings as a spruiker. Anyway, all his mates and industry colleagues wish Jono all the very best, and we hope that his remission prognosis is restored ASAP..

  2. I echo your sentiments David. Jono has brought immeasurable joy and laughter to folks for 40 years! And hopefully many many more. Healing wishes.

  3. He’s an incredibly talented and funny man with a wealth of knowledge. It was a surprise that he was doing advertorials when studio 10 could have used his professional history to their advantage. I wish him a speedy recovery.

  4. As someone who had a mild stroke last year I can relate to living one day at a time
After spending 5 days in the Hospital my first morning back home I went outside looked around and said (and I’ll edit this) “It’s a f’ing beautiful world”
And it really is you know
