Nine Upfronts to echo strong year

With the finish line in view, Nine is bound to announce a swag of renewals on Wednesday.

Nine will stage its Upfronts tomorrow afternoon at FOX Studios.

Nine has enjoyed a bumper year now leading in both Total People and Demos. That means there will be a swag of returning titles: Married at First Sight, The Voice (any new coaches?), The Block in Brighton, Lego Masters, Australian Ninja Warrior, Travel Guides and probably Talkin’ ‘Bout Your Generation. Could Nine also greenlight a local version of Holey Moley?

Doctor Doctor, originally due this year, will likely run in early 2020. There should be early footage of Halifax: Retribution which is about to wrap production. Expect to hear details on Informer 3838, Nine’s Lawyer X drama, which could well fall under an Underbelly banner. All eyes on whether SeaChange gets a second season -I would tip yes, unlike more of Bad Mothers.

Attention will also turn to Nine’s plans for Karl Stefanovic after This Time Next Year concluded with low numbers. It’s a show that also takes two years to film. Will Karl land a new project or just stick with 60 Minutes -or will those rumours about a Today show return be realised?

Another perpetual question surrounding Nine is their plans for Thursdays following the passing of The Footy Show/s.

There should be more news and factuals, such as Paramedics and RBT, plus an overdue special ABBA: Let the Music Speak.

It is probably too soon to know if Love Island will return.

TV Tonight will be Live tweeting announcements after 4:30pm AEDT.

  1. Maybe they will do a surprise announcement tomorrow saying that Big Brother is Back!!!! I’m really hoping so, it can easily replace Love Island and definitely will rate much better.! Also hoping they bring back both the Footy Shows, even if it’s for the Finals Series, the last 4 weeks of every season.. Cheers.

  2. Will be surprised if Seachange comes back. Ratings were less than Bad Mothers, which sounds like it’s gone. One of Nine’s big announcements last year was Love Island coming to main channel, but it looks like it hasn’t really paid off – will they move it back to the multis?

  3. Oh, disappointed Bad Mothers won’t be renewed. I really enjoyed it. Maybe they should bring Karl back to Today since then low ratings weren’t because of him. They actually got worse after he left.
