Noosa councillor under investigation after Bachelorette appearance

Update: “To the whole of Australia at the moment and especially the Noosa people, I’m sorry,” says local councillor under siege.

Eliminated Bachelorette contestant Jess Glasgow, a local councillor from Noosa Council, has come under fire from his local mayor.

Noosa Council said the Office of the Independent Assessor was investigating his involvement in the 10 series for alleged breach of conduct.

Mayor Tony Wellington said, “Cr Glasgow did not seek approval from myself and I only found out about his involvement after the show had been recorded.”

He claimed Cr Glasgow’s behaviour was not reflective of Noosa Council, nor the wider community’s values.

Last night Cr Glasgow was booted from the show by Angie Kent after fellow contestants accused him of misogynistic behaviour.

“I do not think I brought Noosa Council or Noosa into disrepute,” Cr Glasgow said.

“It’s reality television. I did not say anything with malice or anything that was disrespectful.”

Update:

Speaking at a press conference on the Sunshine Coast, the reality TV contestant and Noosa councillor said he had displayed “poor judgment” after being told to be “jovial and animalistic” by Bachelorette Angie Kent.

“To the whole of Australia at the moment and especially the Noosa people, I’m sorry,” Cr Glasgow said.

“These actions where appalling and I don’t condone the stuff at all.”

Cr Glasgow suggested he and fellow contestants had been told to show their “fun side”.

“We were asked to be, by Angie, jovial and our animal instincts and show the fun side of you,” he said.

“In my opinion, in the moment, I didn’t feel I was breaking any boundaries but it has come out the wrong way and I’m truly sorry for it.”

  1. All I see with this is a double standard. It’s ok for Angie and Yvie to make men out to be objects on Gogglebox but Angie can’t handle this random councillor doing the same? That’s hilarious! It’s probably what made him act like this in the first place and when he auditioned the producers were like he is gold and will cause major controversy upsetting the women who make up the majority who watch television like this and that’s what we need for ratings for the overnight celebrity.

    1. Yvie was never on Bachelorette, she was on a couch as observer. Councillor was a misogynist behind the back of the star. Which woman on the show was also a man hater? That’s the comparison you need for this argument.

      1. Yvie was on the show, I didn’t say she was the main star like Angie. I don’t think you understand the comparison I am making. Both Angie and Yvie were known for making men out to be objects when they both appeared together on Gogglebox. I am just pointing out the hypocrisy of it all.

        1. Yes Yvie made an appearance last night. I do understand the comparison you are trying to make, which is why I endeavoured to relate it is not a like-for-like comparison. Watching from the couch with humour is completely different to hateful comments in someone’s presence. It’s the difference between laughing at / laughing with. Even the men on the show called him out for inappropriate behaviour. When we consider men have all the power in domestic violence it is underlines the fundamental difference. We’ll have to agree to disagree.

  2. According to ABC news he claims he made one error on one day of filming and that what we saw was not the real him!
2 cocktail parties and 1 photo shoot plus comments to crew is not one error!!!!
Would like to know how many complaints have been made by Council staff about him?

  3. Even though the Councillor creeped me out big time, I was more creeped out at good looking Carlin turning around and announcing he is still legally married. What the???

  4. Well he certainly didn’t do himself any favours. The trouble is he looked a bit creepy and that’s how his behaviour came across. Also if you try it on with the producers, don’t blame the editing. However one girl in the Bach was up for dating a crew member and didn’t cause the same level of outrage we see here….double standards maybe?

    1. Up for dating someone and being vile to numerous people (female crew members as well as Angie) are vastly different things. Claiming double standards on this is the biggest reach I’ve seen in a while.

      1. To make Angie break the 4th wall and discuss the crew actually shocked me when I was watching. I’m surprised the producers didn’t march him out, but better that he was confronted on camera with all his offences so he can’t claim unfair dismissal. Mid you my stomach churned as he just didn’t get in driving away in the Uber.

  5. Hmm, a fame seeking minor public servant eager to please his Producer Masters makes a couple of stupid comments and gets burned in the process … what a surprise.
Next he’ll be blaming ” editing “…”it’s not me ” ” it was a set up ” etc etc.
Like lambs to the slaughter Australia’s idiots just keep on coming…

    1. A well paid councillor ignoring his job serving the ratepayers to appear on some sleazy reality show is of concern, especially as it involved time when he was supposed to be working in his normal job.
