Support for Erin Molan following social media trolls

"All strength to you Erin," say WSFM hosts Amanda Keller & Brendan Jones.

Radio hosts Amanda Keller & Brendan Jones have lent support to Nine’s Erin Molan in the wake of articles and social media trolling this week.

The Daily Telegraph earlier this week reported Andrew Johns disappeared from the Nine’s NRL coverage this season in what’s been suggested was a direct result of not wanting to work with Molan.

Johns himself denied the suggestion, adding Johns said: “Good old rugby league just thrives on rumours and innuendo.”

Nine’s Head of Sport Tom Malone also dismissed it as “a non-story.”

However the suggestion of a “feud” has driven online articles with Molan being subjected to online trolling.

Language

Today she told WSFM hosts Jonesy & Amanda she’d had little sleep last night, wearing sunglasses as she hadn’t put in her contacts.

As Amanda Keller lent her support both were fighting back tears.

“I get emotional with this Erin, I don’t understand why people give you a hard time,” Keller said.

“It pisses me off. And I think it’s because you are so professional and you are so good at your job, that I think that men don’t like you being good at what they still see as their world. I admire the pants off you, or the eyeballs off you, and I just think you are the most professional female and it’s threatened everybody.

“And I just think in a few years time people will look back, same as the Adam Goodes thing, and think ‘What did we do to her? Why did we do that?'” Keller said.

“All strength to you Erin. You’re an amazing woman and I hate that you’re going though this.”

  1. With all due respect, Erin doesn’t truly understand the game in the same way some other presenters do. Yvonne Sampson is in my opinion the best female anchor in NRL, and pretty much all the presenters both male and female are atleast good on FOX. This contrasts to ch9 where very few of the NRL presenters and commentators are quality in my opinion.

  2. Erin is about the only female involved in Rugby League that I actually like. She is very good on the Sunday Footy Show desk with Sterling and the boys and live footy. I think she needs to delete social media when these sort of stories pop up. Ignorance is bliss !
