REGULAR OLD BOGAN (7mate)
Australia’s answer to South Park, REGULAR OLD BOGAN is an adult animated comedy series with a big heart and even bigger balls. This love letter to Australia revolves around the adventures of the Stubbs family – dad Gavin Stubbs, a stubborn and misinformed tradesman; overbearing mum Wendy, a primary school teacher; Toby, their often bullied, hypersensitive teenage son; and Mary Sue, their foul-mouthed, six-year-old daughter. The Stubbs are a typical family from the suburbs, but this isn’t a family drama – it’s an adventure show. In each episode, they encounter outrageous situations like fighting terrorists, facing Death Row in a Balinese prison or getting lost in the outback when they’d much rather be at home firing up the barbie and talking about the latest specials at Aldi. REGULAR OLD BOGAN is produced by Stepmates Studios for 7mate.

Join the Desert Collectors Nigel and Norm as they travel Australia’s spectacular outback, steeped in history and heritage, in search of unique treasures and meeting the people who spend their lives collecting them. 1. If House Rules wasn’t already a poor ripoff of The Block it sounds like the new challenge of 2020 makes it all too similar to what the Block already does. Can’t 7 come up with anything of their own? Is house rules the hot plate of ch7?

  2. A lot of reboots that’s for sure. RFDS is probably one of the few things I‘ll be watching. If the big brother rumours are true about being in a studio and pre recorded and no home voting or even be live then I won’t be even looking at it. As for House Rules, Abbey should of hosted solo and Jamie stay a judge. It also seems Abbey Gelmi is the new here there everywhere person. She’s involved in quite a few things of late.
I love 911 but don’t know what the spinoff will be like. Hope 911 returns soon as the new season has started.
2020 will be an interesting year I think.

  3. Interesting to hear Ross Stevenson on 3AW this morning threatening legal action against Seven and “Plate of Origin” … he claims he pitched the idea of an International cooking show to Seven years ago and still holds the trademarks to what he named “World Cup of Food”

  4. RFDS, was the revamped final season of The Flying Doctors, which was also set in Broken Hill. It’s funny in this age of reboots, that they didn’t mention it was a reboot.
I can’t see Big Brother working on Seven. Part of the reason it worked on ten and not so much on nine was the adults only editition shown once a week, which won’t gell with sevens audience..

  5. The original british version of SAS: who dares wins was great. Americans did a similar show that also worked well.
Getting Ant, the original British host, is a coup but not sure if having celebrities as contestants cheapens the whole show. Sounds a bit too much “I’m a celebrity, get me out of here” for my liking.
Glad to see some Australian drama coming with RFDS and Between two worlds.
Please dump House Rules, MKR and Temptation Island. They aren’t anything like what they used to be and people are no longer interested

  6. It’s not a bad line up.BB could be great if they make it more like The Circle and less like the US version. No mention of Bride and Prejudice coming back which is understandable as it’s pretty awful, (but I’m still watching it) .Really looking forward to First Dates hopefully this year and dissapointed Jane Kennedy wasn’t chosen as a judge ,she would have been a really great choice as she has a great warmth and sense of humour. All in all not bad but not great

  7. I’m very excited. Big Brother is back! It can’t be worse than the version on Nine! And I am pleased about the new Kim Cattrall show, and very keen on The Falconio story, and looking forward to Between Two Worlds. I think it’s a good, varied lineup. And BB is back!

    1. “It can’t be worse than the version on Nine!” Hold on to your hats then! Because i feel like the 9 version could well have a whole new appreciation level. I hope I’m wrong.

      1. I think you might be right, we will be looking back on the sanitised 9 version in a different way, especially if they go with the terrible US version of BB.

  8. Almost all headlines yesterday relating to 7’s Upfronts had MasterChef in the title.. how weird.

Also.. you’ve got to applaud the the MC judges Three Musketeers approach. ‘All for one and one for all! Except you George, you’ve got stink now’

  9. Sounds weird putting Manu with Matt and Gary. Hope he has good chemistry with them. Maybe the Jane Kennedy rumour was as host the show even though I don’t think Plate Of Origin really needs a host.

      1. I wasn’t having a go at Jane. She’s great. Just making the point that the rumour must have started somewhere. Given all 3 of these judges have successfully worked on shows without a host I don’t know why they would suddenly introduce one for this format.

    1. There’s at least one pre-Masterchef show that did the rounds on SBSFood with Manu and Matt (and Curtis Stone?), something like Boys Weekend and they were fine on that.

  10. There are some good shows there. Glad we’re getting the 911 spin off. Still waiting for them to show the Blacklist spin off Blacklist Redemption & Grey’s Anatomy spin off Station 19. It’s getting really annoying as they have done a few cross over episodes with Grey’s & we don’t know what happened.

  11. It seems like all the rumours are hinting that Bb 2020 will be similar to the U.S version which I think is Survivor inside a house or something similar. Don’t think Aussies will like that concept

    1. I did see part of the US BB like that with celebrities and it was terrible, gave up after a week, we’re all inside a house in a studio with no external yard and voting survivor style each other out, was boring as.

  12. Dodged a bullet with Matt & Gary not joining MKR (which even with this revamp version sounds like a dead man walking). I’ll give Plate Of Origin a go coz I like those guys (including Manu who really should bail on MKR). The only other offering I’m keen for is the excellent sounding Regular Old Bogan. And are we simply not talking about Australian Spartan’s second season anymore? There’s a team out there waiting for their prize money which they’ll only receive when the season has aired…

  13. Regardless of it the rumours of Big Brother being pre-recorded are true seems foolish to put it at the same time of year as Ten air Survivor, especially as they seem to be taking the gameplay route.

  14. Oh dear! Never has one schedule been so bereft of an original idea…
    – Big Brother, now on its 3rd network
    – Farmer Wants A Wife, reheated from Nine
    – RFDS, channel 9 in the ‘90’s
    – AGT, now in its 3rd incarnation
    – Plate Of Origin, failed 9 format under different guise
    – Temptation Island, revived from 7’s own archives
    – Wife Swap, tired format last seen on 9
    – Modern Family, best years were on 10
    – House Rules, desperate attempt to revive tired format
    – MKR, ditto House Rules
    How overwhelmingly underwhelming!
