ABC announces New Years’ Eve concert

Casey Donovan, Kate Miller-Heidke, Vika & Linda Bull and more to performs hits of 60s, 70s, & 80s.

Zan Rowe and Charlie Pickering will host ABC’s annual coverage of New Year’s Eve festivities next month in Sydney.

Casey Donovan, Kate Miller-Heidke, Vika and Linda Bull, Grinspoon’s Phil Jamieson, pop singer Angie Hart, musician Mojo Juju, rap artist Adrian Eagle will all perform a “Party of the Decades” tribute to classics of the ’60s, ’70s and ’80s.

ABC is excited to join forces with the City of Sydney and the Sydney Opera House to welcome the start of the twenty twenties. With a fantastic concert and fireworks spectacular live from the Boardwalk of the Sydney Opera House, this NYE is set to be the Party of the Decades!

Join us to celebrate the most memorable songs from recent decades. From the rock-n ’roll classics of the 60s, to the high tempo disco hits of the 80s and present day classics – the hits will keep coming.

Hosts Zan Rowe and Charlie Pickering will be joined by some of Australia’s biggest and brightest singers. Songstress Kate Miller-Heidke, vocal inspirations Vika and Linda Bull, Grinspoon’s Phil Jamieson, pop singer Angie Hart, musician Mojo Juju, soulful rap artist Adrian Eagle and the powerhouse that is Casey Donovan, have all signed up to perform.

With even more performers still to be announced, this New Year’s Eve – ABC’s Party of the Decades is one not to be missed! The live concert will be broadcast to Australia via ABC TV, iview, ABC Radio and to the world via ABC Australia and ABC Online.

  2. The previous NYE broadcast with the Countdown concert and bands/artists were widely praised and well received compared to the more previous NYE broadcasts. It was successful compared to the NYE broadcasts from years before that were complained about and had gaffes and mistakes.

    I grew up listening to The Black Sorrows, Frente! and Grinspoon, so it will be great nostalgia. The nostalgia of the music, guests and bands/artists from the past was a highlight of last year’s NYE broadcasts. Notably, the Pub Quiz was missing from last year’s broadcast which took away some of the comedy. While it may not be as significant as Y2K, the dawn of the new decade is still quite significant.
