Tom Riley stars as detective Will Wagstaffe in this BBC First crime drama.

6 part UK crime drama Dark Heart begins this week on BBC First.

Based on the Will Wagstaffe novels by writer Adam Creed, it stars Tom Riley (Da Vinci’s Demons, Starfish, The Collection) as a detective haunted by the unsolved double murder of his parents when he was just sixteen years old.

Also featuring are Anjil Mohindra (Bodyguard), Charlotte Riley (Peaky Blinders, London Has Fallen, Edge of Tomorrow).

This screened a year ago in the UK.

Set and filmed in the heart of London, DI Will Wagstaffe (Tom Riley), a workaholic whose personal life is as troubled and complex as his day job, investigates a string of horrifying murders in this atmospheric new crime series rom critically acclaimed writer Chris Lang.

Still haunted by the unsolved murder of his parents when he was 16, ‘Staffe’ is about to continue a personal hunt for their killers when he’s called to the scene of a disturbingly brutal murder. When it emerges that this is not the only victim, the pressure is on as Staffe pushes the boundaries in his search for the truth. But what he uncovers is far more shocking than he could have ever imagined…

Thursdays at 8.30pm from November 14 on BBC First.

  1. This looks good. It originally aired in 2016 as a movie pilot and 4 new episodes have been added in 2018, meaning there’s an unexplained 2 year ageing of the cast.
