ARIA Awards to induct Human Nature

Hard-working harmonisers will get an industry honour later this month.

This is so totally deserved…

Human Nature will be inducted into the ARIA Hall of Fame at the ARIA Awards on November 27.

The Aussie vocal band has chalked up a 30 year career -still with the original line-up- and a string of successes in Australia and Las Vegas. On November 22nd they will release “Still Telling Everybody – 30 Years of Hits.”

“We are so incredibly humbled by this honour to be inducted into the ARIA Hall Of Fame,” they said. “All we have ever wanted to do for a career is to entertain people, and to have had the fans continually support us over the years both in our home of Australia and overseas, is really something we never dreamed of. To be inducted on the anniversary of our first ever performance as a group & in our 30th year since forming makes us so grateful. We are so looking forward to coming back home and celebrating this honour with our family, friends and fans on November 27th at the 2019 ARIA Awards.”

ARIA Chief Executive, Dan Rosen, said: “The 30-year career of Human Nature is a truly unique Australian success story. From teenage friends to multi platinum stars to keepers of the Motown flame, they have won over audiences all around the world. I am thrilled to have them in the ARIA Hall Of Fame and congratulate them for their incredible career.”

Denis Handlin, Sony Music Entertainment Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Australia and New Zealand and President of Asia, said: “It has been incredibly special to be a part of Andrew, Mike, Phil and Toby’s journey as Human Nature right back from those very early days and to watch them develop into the amazing talent they are today. I am enormously proud of their outstanding achievements both at home and overseas. Their induction into the ARIA Hall of Fame is a wonderful honour that caps off a brilliant 30th year for them as Human Nature.”

Nine will screen the ARIA Awards on November 27.

  1. They might have formed in 1989, but the didn’t release any songs until 1996, or have a hit until 1997. And – successful covers of oldies albums and Vegas residency aside – they haven’t had a hit single since 2004.
    7 Years of Hits?

  2. I’m not really seeing how they have contributed to Australian music in any meaningful way to warrant a “hall of fame” honour. They went from an unremarkable bubblegum pop group with virtually no hits that have endured beyond their initial stint on the top 50 to a Motown cover group. If they were churning out original material as part of that transition, sure, but regurgitating past material that has been done (arguably) better by the original artists isn’t exactly an achievement to warrant such an enduring accolade.

They seem like nice guys, and I wish them well, but awarding a hall of fame honour to a glorified cover band is just nonsensical to me, though I’m sure that diehard fans will disagree.

    1. They are no cover band. Yes they sing other people songs but they are known first for there own. 30 years of amazing songs is a right in itself. They are amazing live. I’ve been to heaps of shows.
