Chris Smith joins SKY News for 2020

SKY News confirms its anchor line-up for 2020.

SKY News has confirmed its anchor line-up for 2020 confirming former 2GB presenter Chris Smith in the mix.

He will present two regular programs, Chris Smith Tonight Thursday nights and a new late-night show Chris Smith & Friends on Sundays. Smith will also host a special summer-edition program, Chris Smith: Inside the News, weeknights from December 16 to January 24.

As tipped, Hinch is out for 2020.

Daily Telegraph Political Editor Sharri Markson returns with Sharri Sundays. Sunday nights will also premiere debate program In My View.

Chief News Anchor Kieran Gilbert will host a new political program Afternoon Agenda and will also front political discussion program Sunday Agenda with newly appointed Political Editor Andrew Clennell.

In the lead up to the US Election, SKY News Business Editor Ticky Fullerton will host a new six-part series The Alliance examining the important role and impact of the US-Australian partnership.

Other new programs include In My View, Afternoon Agenda, Outsiders’ Guide To… and The Alliance.

The channel will add to its documentary slate with Peter Stefanovic and the investigative team set to bring audiences another two-part series. Further details will be announced early next year.

Paul Murray Live will celebrate its tenth anniversary next year with a brand-new set and refreshed format.

Sky News’ award-winning team of experienced journalists including Kieran Gilbert, Laura Jayes, Peter Stefanovic, Andrew Clennell, Ticky Fullerton, Ashleigh Gillon, Tom Connell and Annelise Nielsen will bring viewers unrivalled news and analysis across politics and business.

Returning weekdays from 5am on First Edition, Laura Jayes and Peter Stefanovic are the breakfast team to turn to for a fresh perspective on the latest in news, politics, business and sport, first.

Then 9am weekdays, Political Reporters Tom Connell and Annelise Nielsen team-up Live from Canberra for morning political program AM Agenda, Australia’s only weekday morning program devoted to political news coverage.

From 12pm Monday-Thursday, respected political journalist Ashleigh Gillon returns to host NewsDay Live from the Sky News Perth studio providing the latest current affairs, sport and business news including coverage of key news events and analysis.

Broadcasting Live from the Sky News Melbourne studio, The Friday Show hosted by Herald Sun columnist Rita Panahi extends to three hours in the new time of Fridays 2pm – 5pm.

The Kenny Report moves to the new timeslot of 5pm weekdays and will see anchor Chris Kenny examine the issues that dominated the news agenda, particularly those involving national politics during sitting weeks in Canberra.

New in 2020

Chris Smith Tonight, Thursdays at 8pm, premieres January 30
During the new one-hour program, Chris will provide audiences with news of the day and his perspective on what’s making headlines across the country.

Chris Smith & Friends, Sundays at 10pm, premieres February 2
The new one-hour weekly program will see Chris Smith joined by three fascinating guests for an in-depth chat, each with a special story and providing their take on the world. Expect big personalities, controversial ideas, surprising stories and a few unsung heroes.

In My View, Sundays at 8pm, premieres February 2
2020 will see the launch of a brand-new program, In My View, exploring the issues Sky News viewers care about. The one-hour debate show will feature four bold opinion makers who go toe-to-toe on the stories of the week. With no host to moderate the debate, what could possibly go wrong?

Afternoon Agenda with Kieran Gilbert, Monday – Thursday at 2pm, premieres February 3
Sky News Chief News Anchor Kieran Gilbert continues the tradition of hosting a prestigious end of day political program, imperative viewing for politicians, opinion leaders and news makers Live from Parliament House.

Outsiders’ Guide To…Fridays at 8pm, premieres February 7
Outsiders Rowan Dean, The Daily Telegraph’s Opinion Editor James Morrow and Herald Sun columnist Rita Panahi will have a new program and accompanying podcast Outsiders’ Guide To… exploring a different topic each week. The new weeknight program and podcast will see the Outsiders team provide viewers with their unique guide on one big issue, with their mix of insight and humour.

The Alliance, premieres March 2020
Sky News partners with Visy/Pratt Industries to broadcast a new six-part series The Alliance. Hosted by Sky News Business Editor Ticky Fullerton, this landmark program explores the vital role of the Australian-US partnership, ahead of the US Presidential election in November 2020.
