For sale: Karl and Susan’s home in Ramsay Street

This exterior home used by Neighbours is on the market for the first time since 1985.

The exterior home used by Neighbours‘ Karl and Susan Kennedy is on the market for the first time since 1985.

It was also once home to Des (Paul Keane) and Daphne (Elaine Smith).

The home at 5 Pin Oak Court Vermont could be sold for between $1.05 million and $1.15 million, according to Perth Now. In 1978 it sold for just $68,000. Wow.

Should you purchase this one, you would also be getting regular location fees from Fremantle, to compensate for the ongoing property access, shooting, vehicles and nosey fans (security is usually a regular feature on the street).

You can inspect in person at 6pm Wednesday. No doubt plenty will.

The quiet cul de sac otherwise known as Ramsay Street offers up one of its most iconic homes for the first time in several decades. Add your surname to the honour roll of the Kennedys, Kinskis and Kellys from this television famous showcase of family living. Set at top of the court amid fragrant rose gardens, with a contemporary stone top kitchen, private bedroom wing and magnificent views from its elevated front living room across the internationally renowned cul de sac. All the hallmarks of a happy family home are right here – from the bright living rooms overlooking the gardens to the 2 private outdoor living areas for BBQs and weekend entertaining.
With a tranquil water feature, a separate master bedroom retreat and private placement perched high above the court, there’s no need for any real-life drama, just pure relaxation in this family friendly pocket. A versatile separate room with its own entrance also serves as a hobby space, office or private quarters for visitors wanting to experience real life Ramsay Street for themselves. This is a rare opportunity to stake your claim in Australia’s long running soap opera which has screened in 60 countries around the world – a landmark location close to schools, parks, shops and transport connections including Vermont South Shopping Centre and The Glen. Des and Daphne and Karl and Susan found love here. Be the next lucky couple to join the neighbourhood which has graced our screens since 1985.

  1. If you look at the pictures/floorplans of the house for sale, you will see that the house has a totally different layout to what Karl and Susan Kennedy have 😛

On another note – don’t Ten (or a production company of Neighbours) own one of the houses on the street? The white double story house from memory?

  2. Ten should buy it and have the crew from “The Living Room” replicate the Kennedy house sets inside, a la “A Very Brady Renovation”, They could Air B&B it to English tourists who make the pilgrimage to Ramsey Street each year. Who wouldn’t want to boast they slept in Dr Karl and Susan’s bed?

    1. Interesting point. What if you buy the house and land and want to demolish the house and build units or town houses? I’d assume you would need to sign some sort of contract or there would be a clause you will need to agree to before buying the house that forbids you from doing that.

      1. No clause or requirement. I did ask about what happens if purchaser doesn’t want to continue featuring in the show. I guess they would cross that bridge if it came to it. It’s a lucrative incentive to stay and agents are clearly using it as a selling point.

      2. I think it’s safe to assume the person buying it would likely be doing so because they are a neighbours fan. plenty of houses and land to buy to knock down and build units or townhouses.
