Fremantle turns to Next talent

Fremantle announces a new in-house initiative to help emerging creatives to the next step of their careers.

Fremantle has announced Next, a new in-house initiative to assist up and coming creatives to advance their careers through scripted podcasts and short-form content.

The program was teased at Fremantle’s annual Spring Drinks industry event with agents, writers and talent.

Supported by Jo Porter, Fremantle’s Director of Scripted, drama coordinators Ellie Madritsch and Ana Jimenez (pictured), are working to secure projects for 2020.

“At a time when series orders are shrinking in size the opportunity to break new voices is becoming more difficult. Next is an important initiative to nurture emerging talent and actively find pathways to escalate careers and engage new audiences both locally and internationally,” said Porter.

Ellie Madritsch and Ana Jimenez, added: “We’re looking to fill gaps we see in the industry – to give emerging creatives exposure to the development process, provide a platform for their original stories, and to produce the kind of audacious, diverse short-form content that contemporary audiences are hungry for.”

Next follows Fremantle’s recent collaboration with Screenworks and SPA’s One to Watch sponsorship.
