Fresh off the Boat episode looks to spin-off

A potential spin-off of Fresh Off the Boat will begin filming in the US in mid-November.

An episode of the series, currently titled Magic Motor Inn, will introduce an Indian family whose daughter goes to school with Eddie Huang (Hudson Yang). Vir Das has been cast as the father while Preity G. Zinta has been cast as the mother, Meena.

Fresh Off the Boat writer Rachna Fruchbom is also attached to write.

Variety notes the episode is not a backdoor pilot, and a pilot would still need to be shot during the traditional pilot season.
