Friends reunion special in discussion

Unscripted reunion special is in the works, but a deal is far from done.

A reunion is in the pipeline for golden sitcom Friends for HBO Max (US).

The Hollywood Reporter states talks are currently underway for an unscripted reunion special that would feature Jennifer Aniston, Courteney Cox, Lisa Kudrow, Matt LeBlanc, Matthew Perry and David Schwimmer, as well as series creators David Crane and Marta Kauffman.

But sources caution that a deal is far from done and agreements with cast and creatives still need to be hammered out.

The news follows Jennifer Aniston telling The Ellen DeGenres Show,”We would love for there to be something, but we don’t know what that something is. So we’re just trying. We’re working on something.”

Friends marked its 25h anniversary in September.

In 2014 David Crane said to the idea of a reunion, “If anyone wants Friends, turn on your TV!”

HBO Max and producers WBTV declined comment.

  1. I bet NBC is spinning in their grave missing out on this. The comedy on NBC never reached the height (ratings or funny) after Friends and Seinfeld left the air.
