I’m a Celebrity UK not under threat from bushfires

UK reality show begins filming near Murwillumbah from Sunday.

UK producers of I’m a Celebrity Get me Out of Here, about to begin filming in Dungay near Murwillumbah in Northern NSW, have quashed concerns that bushfires in the Australian jungle could threaten the show.

Reports in UK papers including the Sun and The Daily Mirror had earlier suggested that the camp could be evacuated “imminently,” while The Daily Mail claimed that show bosses were on “red alert”.

An ITV spokesperson told RadioTimes.com: “We are in constant contact with the NSW fire brigade and are closely monitoring the situation.

“We currently have no cause for concern. The health and safety of all our production crew and celebrities are of the utmost importance.”

Although an official line-up is yet to be announced, contestants expected to feature include Caitlyn Jenner, Jacqueline Jossa and Ian Wright.

Filming begins on Sunday.

  1. When I read that Ian Wright was in the line-up, I thought it was Ian Wright of Lonely Planet/Globe Trekker fame. It turns out to be another Ian Wright who was a professional footballer.

    1. To be fair the dense overgrown rainforests in our tropical areas could be classified as jungle and technically are jungles. We just associate that word more with other countries and movies. For the UK it is definitely seen an exotic jungle! If you see the scenery in and around the UK version it is as jungle like as what we see in the South Africa setting.
