The Block finale delivers bumper share for Nine
Ratings: Nine drew a whopping 42.4% share on Sunday as The Block sells with a multi-million dollar pricetag.

Nine was always going to dominate Sunday, it was just a question of how big….
The Block drew 1.54m viewers across the bulk of its finale, but rose to 1.92m for the moment Tess & Luke were announced as winners.
The latter figure is only beaten by Married at First Sight‘s double finale in entertainment rankings this year. Last year’s Gatwick finale drew 1.67m / 1.87m by comparison.
The finale was also nearly 4 times the nearest competition with Bride & Prejudice on 453,000, Grand Designs: The Street at 430,000 from 7:40pm and The Graham Norton Show on 242,000 from 7:30pm.
60 Minutes drew a cool 901,000 in preliminary figures, well ahead of Total Control (512,000), and Sunday Night (375,000).
Across the day Nine’s Fed Cup final (336,000) battled 10’s Supercars Championship at Sandown (Podium 257,000).
Nine network stormed the night with a whopping 42.4% share then Seven 24.4%, ABC 14.2%, 10 11.3% and SBS 7.7%.
Nine News drew 860,000 for Nine and Murder Lies & Alibis was 257,000.
Seven News still won its slot at 953,000 for Seven. A Confession was 317,000.
ABC News was best for ABC at 649,000.  Will Australia Ever Have A Black Prime Minister? (165,000) and Antiques Roadshow (158,000) also comprised ABC’s night.
10 had a tough night. The Sunday Project led for 10 at 357,000 / 321,000 then 10 News First (257,000). NCIS was 234,000 and Bondi Rescue (156,000).
On SBS it was Secrets Of The Railway (200,000), Secrets Of The Pyramids (190,000) and Secrets of SBS World News (143,000).
Rusty Rivets on ABC KIDS topped multichannels at 169,000.

Apart from The Today Show and Nine News, have Nine lost anything this year? From the Australian Open all the way through to last night’s Block grand final they’ve blitzed! Has a Seven 2011 dominance look about it.
Even winning day time with Fed Cup tennis and beating other sports like horse racing, Sandown, T20, A League, NBL.
Nine Please bring back Georgie and Deb to Today. A Great duo who are a lot of fun. They deserve a final show as a team at the very least.
That’s about as likely as Graham Kennedy and Mary Hardy reuniting for one final show.
How do channels decide when to break a show for a Winner announcement? The winner was quite clear from the second auction, and then The Block (unlike many other competition shows) don’t really do a grand finale announcement section. The show just peters out for the last ten minutes or so. I can’t really identify a point that you would say was the final announcement.
