When TV execs begin ‘horse trading’ timeslots…

An amusing moment took place during a Drama panel at the Screen Forever conference.

L to R: Nick Forward (Stan), Sally Riley (ABC), Marshall Heald (SBS), Brian Walsh (Foxtel), Chris Oliver-Taylor (Fremantle).

An amusing moment yesterday took place during a Drama panel at the Screen Forever conference.

When questioned about what she was looking for ABC’s Head of Drama, Comedy & Indigenous, Sally Riley said, “We’re basically looking for Drama for Sunday night, 8:30. We want premium things that will sit there.”

That prompted Foxtel’s Brian Walsh to interject.

“Is that where you’re going to place all your local stories?” he asked.

“Pretty much that’s what we’re looking for,” she replied.

“Thanks, that’s good to know,” he smiled.

When the audience broke out in laughter, Riley added, “You can have Thursday nights.”

With that Marshall Heald, SBS Director of TV and Online Content, protested: “That’s mine!”
