Josh Thomas comedy Please Like Me has made a New York Times list of the Best International TV Shows of the Decade.
It described the series as a “Venn diagram representing funny, charming and scabrous” with Thomas as a 20-year-old who’s sidling out of the closet while caring for his theatrically suicidal mother.

Please Like Me is also attracting votes in TV Tonight’s reader survey on top shows of the decade.
Meanwhile Vulture / New York Magazine also recently published their summary of the best TV shows of the decade, with Please Like Me (filed under Mad Geniuses), Miss Fisher’s Murder Mysteries (Total Delights) and Top of the Lake (Should Have Been a Limited Series) all made the cut.
Adaptations of Review and The Slap also got a mention, but the latter as a criticism.
New Josh Thomas comedy Everything’s Gonna Be Okay will screen on Stan from January 17.

Please Like Me is such a funny, comfortable and entertaining Australian series. I’ve been bingeing on it over Xmas and it is such a happy change from the American, British and Scandi series I usually devour. I reckon it’s up there with shows such as Fleabag, Girls and Love, but because it’s Aussie, I enjoy it that much more. By that I mean I relate to the characters, setting and premise.
Big shout out to Josh’s dad and Auntie Peg too, bloody hysterical.
I started binge watching it today. It’s been a while since I have watched it and I fell back in love with it all over again. Definitely need to vote for this in the TVT poll for favourite shows in the last decade. Forgot how brilliant it is and why it is critically acclaimed. Not easy to find on Netflix mind you. I had to search it as scrolling proved useless.

Not a fan of the show, but you have to love a “local talent made good” story
I absolutely love Please Like Me, it is my personal favourite show of the decade. I watch it once or twice a year from start to end.
Definitely one of my favourites of the decade. Previously not given enough credit so it is lovely to read this David, as I believe it is so deserving. In impressive list with a few British titles that I have thoroughly enjoyed too.
