Production begins on Clickbait

Netflix thriller co-created by Tony Ayres & Christian White is now being shot in Melbourne.

 

First cast have been announced for Clickbait, the Australian-made Netflix thriller created by Tony Ayres and Christian White.

The eight-episode series, set in the US, is now filming at Docklands in Melbourne.

The series explores the ways in which our most dangerous and uncontrolled impulses are fuelled in the age of social media and reveals the ever-widening fractures we find between our virtual and real-life personas.

First cast include Zoe Kazan (The Big Sick, Ruby Sparks), Betty Gabriel (Get Out, Counterpart) , Adrian Grenier (Entourage, Affairs of State)and Phoenix Raei (picured Stateless, The Heights).

Tony Ayres is Showrunner with Brad Anderson (The Sinner) as Lead Director and Emma Freeman (Glitch, Stateless) as second block Director.

Tom Hoffie (Wanted, Love Child) and Joanna Werner (Riot, Secret City) serve as Producers.

David Heyman (Once Upon a Time In Hollywood, Harry Potter, Gravity) will serve as a NWEP through his UK based production company, Heyday Television. Tom Winchester (The Capture) will serve as Executive Producer for Heyday Television.

    1. It depends what you mean. I’ve posted before the story is purely US based, all characters are US (or international). Matchbox Pics previously did this with Camp. The show has Location Incentive funding from Screen Aus which is used to lure productions like Thor to Aus. This differs from the usual Drama funding. It would probably qualify for local quota if on broadcast, but streaming has none anyway, and I suspect all awards qualification.
