Netflix comedy Special has been renewed for a second season of 8 episodes.
Based on Ryan O’Connell’s book I’m Special: And Other Lies We Tell Ourselves, the series centres on a gay man (O’Connell) with mild cerebral palsy who decides to rewrite his identity as an accident victim and finally pursue the life he wants.
Jessica Hecht and Punam Patel will return alongside O’Connell.
O’Connell serves as writer, and as executive producer along with Jim Parsons and others.

Such an adorable, endearing and funny series, very glad it’s coming back! Hopefully with more and longer episodes.
This was an absolute delight. Very pleasantly surprised to see a second season.
Ryan O’Connell and producer are also mentoring emerging Aussie writers.
Didn’t know that! A show with heart behind as well as on the screens, then!
Awesome news. The sex scene has to be one of the most funny yet tastefully done things I’ve seen all year. And his boss is a horror yet well done. Love the writing of this little gem and look forward to seeing this. Hopefully a few episodes longer in season 2
