Sunny wins The Great Australian Bake Off

26 year old from Sydney is named Australia’s Best Amateur Baker in LifeStyle finale.

Sydney’s Subha (Sunny) Nasir Ahmad was named Australia’s Best Amateur Baker in last night’s final episode of The Great Australian Bake Off.

The self-taught 26 year old won with her stairway geometric cake of vanilla and cacoa nib sponge with white chocolate ganache and raspberry jam, defeating Brisbane’s Dan Pasquali, 35, and Melbourne’s David Hills, 41.

“I can’t believe I won The Great Australian Bake Off! A dream just came true,” she said.

“I’m going to celebrate with my family. It was so nice to have them here; this win is for them as well,” she added, acknowledging her single mother and younger siblings with whom she moved to Australia in 2011 from Pakistan.

Maggie Beer said: “I’m so proud that we have crowned Sunny. She has such instinct, she has flavour, she has finesse, she has creativity, and she has science – she really is an amazing baker.”

Hosted by comedians Claire Hooper and Mel Buttle, LifeStyle’s fourth season of the series been a ratings success but it yet to be formally announced for 2020.

Casting by Fremantle is currently underway.

  1. Another fantastic season! (However the final products from the Showstopper task were underwhelming in comparison to previous series’).
    I didn’t note any applications for next season during or after the episode… I do hope we get a 2020 season.
