NITV Current Affairs show The Point was last week awarded in the NSW Premier’s Multicultural Communications Awards.

A report by Andrea Booth won Best Audio-Visual Report.

Acting Minister for Multiculturalism Geoff Lee said,  “Our best and brightest professionals raised the standard even higher this year with fearless journalism and innovative marketing.

“Tonight’s winners set the benchmark for aspiring multicultural media and marketing professionals, not just in our State but across the country.”

The Point’s exclusive investigation into US-based ancestry company DNA Tribes revealed a false product based on flawed DNA analysis which had the potential to harm Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities. Based on extensive scientific research, it attracted 8,000 views and DNA Tribes has since discontinued its operations.
