What’s been the Story of the Year?

And what's been the Blunder of the Year?

It will soon be time to open voting on the annual TV Tonight Awards.

I thought I would again invite reader suggestions for Story of the Year and Blunder of the Year.

Story of the Year is a fairly broad category.

It could be a single TV moment, issue or trend, Australian or international, either on or off screen. Basically it’s the thing that we will look back on as 2019’s legacy, for better or worse.

Blunder of the Year is pretty self-explanatory, but can also be on or off screen.

Leave your thoughts in the comments section below, and let me know which category it’s for!

    1. Yes what was with that ?? For years we were told Labor were a shoein. That Election night coverage was a nightmare for me, I only ever have two glasses of wine max, but I found myself emptying two bottles of Merlot, and I was full of piss and bad manners ?

  1. Story of the year for me is a toss up between the rescue of the Thai soccer team from the cave and the Adam Goodes controversy.

Blunder of the year if you asked me a few weeks ago I would have said the undercover sting of One Nation but I think the Prince Andrew interview beats that now considering he agreed to that being filmed and broadcasted.

  2. Story of the year: after years of denying that they were interested in doing so, 7 buying out Prime (watch this space for the denoument in 2020) so formally centralising control of an Australia-wide network in Sydney.
Blunder of the year: Bruce Gordon managing to own more Prime shares than he is allowed to, apparently without realising it ….

  3. Story Of The Year – Leaving Neverland: The Michael Jackson Documentary
Blunder Of The Year (and this is a recent one) – Prince Andrew’s Newsnight Interview…

  4. Story of the year : KAK’s outspoken rants on Studio 10
Blunder of the Year: Silent No More screening identities of sexual assaults/harassment victims in their media package

  5. blunder of the year, The Today Show or everything channel 7 did.
Story of the year, ten axing the name of a show but keeping everything else (the living room)

  6. Story of the year was The Masked Singer Australia or Lego Masters, while the biggest blunder would have to be the New Year’s Eve date mistake – so much has gone on this year, but that very first thing was probably the precursor to everything that was to happen next…

  7. Story of the year is more and more people taking up streaming (Netflix, Stan, Amazon Prime, Apple), Blunder of the year is the mess of the Today show and Karl coming back
