40 years ago today Channel 0 turned into 10.
According to Wikipedia, on 20 January 1980, the 0/10 Network became known as Network Ten to reflect ATV moving from channel 0 to channel 10 – although the Brisbane station continued to broadcast as TVQ-0 until 10 September 1988 when the station changed to TVQ-10.

It was also the launch date of the ill-fated soap, Arcade. It lasted all of 6 weeks.

10 didn’t start in Perth until the mid 1980s.
Correct me if I’m wrong, but did this change in Melbourne also marked the launch of Channel 0/28 (now SBS) in Sydney and Melbourne?
Channel O-28 started in October of 1980 i believe.
Thanks for the shout out! I actually remember that day when 0 became 10. Was a big deal at the time..
And I actually didn’t mind Arcade, but I was 8 years old.
