Breaking Homicide host in Oz to launch Investigation Discovery channel

Derrick Levasseur will travel to Sydney for Feb 1 channel launch.

Breaking Homicide host Derrick Levasseur will travel to Australia to help launch true crime network, Investigation Discovery (ID).

Levasseur, a decorated former police sergeant, will be in Sydney at the end of January for the channel which launches on Foxtel on Saturday 1 February and and Fetch TV on March 1st.

Derrick Levasseur is a retired police sergeant and now licensed private investigator from Rhode Island. Hired at just 20 years old, he was one of the youngest officers in the department’s history. He has worked as an undercover detective, where he had the opportunity to work with the DEA, FBI, ATF and US Secret Service. In 2014 he won Big Brother (US) Season 16 and is now regarded as one of the greatest to have ever played the game.

Derrick hosts Breaking Homicide (Fridays from 7 February at 8:30pm) alongside forensic psychologist Kris Mohandie, and together they investigate unsolved murders for families who are desperate for the truth. Some of the cases they explore are complete mysteries, while others may have a strong “person of interest” but not enough evidence has been gathered to get a conviction. In each episode, Derrick and Kris apply their unique talents and investigatory skills to re-examine original clues and chase down new leads in an effort to solve these cases once and for all.

With a repertoire of talent encompassing highly respected and renowned criminal investigators, detectives, investigative journalists and forensic experts, Investigation Discovery uncovers the truth behind incredible real crime stories with world-class, fixating programming. From shocking headline crimes and cold cases to salacious scandals, ID is the home of real life mystery and suspense. In the United States, ID is the #1 true crime network and #1 cable network for women, and now Australian true crime superfans will be able to delve into the addictive storytelling.

Real cases, real people, real life drama. ID’s line-up of compelling programs set to premiere this year include In Pursuit with John Walsh, Truth About Murder with Sunny Hostin, Deadline: Crime with Tamron Hall, Breaking Homicide, An ID Murder Mystery series exploring cases such as Madeleine McCann Robert Durst and Rebecca Zahau; The Lost Women of NXIVM, Ted Bundy: Mind of a Monster, Twisted Sisters (Executive Produced by Khloe Kardashian) and more.

From Saturday 1 February, Investigation Discovery can be found on Foxtel channel 616.
