Fetch the new home for Eurosport

Updated: Cycling, winter sports, snooker and athletics all coming to Fetch channel.

Eurosport is coming to Fetch from Saturday February 1.

It follows Foxtel ending its transmission deal for the  channel, with Discovery expressing its disappointment.

On Fetch the channel will offer cycling, winter sports, snooker and athletics.

“We’ve secured premium, exclusive rights for some of the biggest and best events around the globe, delivering more than 2,000 hours of live sports viewing each year,” Fetch said.

Content will include:

Cycling: Ad-break-free live stage coverage including two Grand Tours – the Giro d’Italia in May (exclusive to Eurosport) and the Vuelta a España in August – plus all of the Spring Classics, Monuments, and many other events from the World, European and Asian tours.

Snooker: The world’s biggest snooker tournaments including the Players Championship in February, the China Open and the season-ending World Championships in May.

Winter Sports: The final events in the 2019/20 World Cup season in February/March, including Australian stars in Freestyle Skiing and Snowboarding, plus Alpine Skiing, Ski Jumping and more.

Athletics: Major international Athletics events throughout the year, beginning with the World Indoor Tour events in Germany in February.

“We are thrilled that Eurosport has a new Australian home with Fetch TV as we expand our partnership,” said Rebecca Kent, General Manager of Discovery, Australia, New Zealand & Pacific Islands. “Eurosport has a loyal audience of Aussies who are extremely passionate about sports like cycling, athletics, snooker and winter sports. We believe that every fan counts and are proud to continue fuelling their passions by delivering a line-up of premium events throughout the year.”

“Fetch TV is very excited about our expanding relationship with Discovery, and look forward to adding Eurosport, Discovery Turbo, and Investigation Discovery to the Fetch platform over the next two months.” said Scott Lorson, CEO of Fetch TV.

“Eurosport has been one of our most requested channel additions, and we are pleased to be able to service this passionate fan base.  Eurosport continues to invest in premium content and the future is bright with expanding rights, and compelling coverage.  Eurosport is a perfect complement to our existing premium international sports offering, and will join Optus Sport, ESPN, EDGESport, beIN SPORTS, and UFC Pay-Per-View on the Fetch platform.”

Eurosport will be available on Fetch CH 156 on a free trial basis to all Fetch direct retail customers throughout the month of February*.  It will then be offered as an A La Carte Special Interest channel for $8.99 per month. Fetch partner ISP launch dates will be confirmed shortly.

* Throughout February, Eurosport will be available on a one-month free trial for all Fetch TV direct retail only. To view they simply go to CH156 and start watching. Customers with subscriptions through ISPs will need to contact their provider for more information.

  1. I’m livid about this as a cycling fan & a platinum Foxtel subscriber .
The reason we signed up to Foxtel all those yers ago as soon as it came to our street was for the rugby.
It’s not financially viable for us to have both & as husband has no interest in cycling & Foxtel still has the rugby this year I will be trolling youtube for cycling after the event.
Foxtel is cutting chanels, not keeping programs/series on for nearly as long to catch up at leisure but charging more.
    Not happy Jan!!

  2. It’s a logical move after Foxtel cut Eurosport loose, Optus is gradually building up its pay TV business while at the same time it is in the process of removing Foxtel from Optus subscribers when they are disconnected and moved onto the NBN.
I’m sure sports will become even more competitive for broadcast rights as this year passes.

    1. Time will tell for Fetch – if Foxtel couldn’t get enough viewers to justify the cost of the rights to the channel, it’ll be interesting to see whether Fetch can. $8.99 per month for one sport channel isn’t cheap.

    1. I’ve cut Foxtel and bought a recon Fetch unit from Jbhifi for about $260. The fetch setup code cost $1. With $54 saving a mth a $9 cost is easy choice.
