Star Trek: Picard has now been officially renewed for a second season ahead of its first season premiere.
A report last month indicated a 10 episode season was to be announced.
“The energy and excitement around the premiere of Star Trek: Picard has reached a magnitude greater than all of us at CBS All Access could have hoped for,” said Julie McNamara, Executive Vice President, Original Content, CBS All Access. “We’re thrilled to announce plans for a second season before the series’ debut, and we are confident that Star Trek fans and new viewers alike will be captured by the stellar cast and creative team’s meticulously crafted story when it premieres on Jan. 23.”
Star Trek: Picard features Sir Patrick Stewart reprising his iconic role as Jean-Luc Picard, which he played for seven seasons on Star Trek: The Next Generation. The new series follows this iconic character into the next chapter of his life. The series is produced by CBS Television Studios in association with Secret Hideout and Roddenberry Entertainment. For season two of the series, Alex Kurtzman, Akiva Goldsman, Michael Chabon, Patrick Stewart, Terry Matalas (“12 Monkeys,” “MacGyver”), Heather Kadin, Rod Roddenberry and Trevor Roth serve as executive producers; Aaron Baiers (Secret Hideout) and Kirsten Beyer serve as co-executive producers.
Star Trek: Picard season one cast members include Sir Patrick Stewart (Jean-Luc Picard), Alison Pill (Dr. Agnes Jurati), Isa Briones (Dahj), Evan Evagora (Elnor), Michelle Hurd (Raffi Musiker), Santiago Cabrera (Cristobal Rios) and Harry Treadaway (Narek) along with special guest stars Brent Spiner (Data), Jonathan Del Arco (Hugh), Jonathan Frakes (William Riker), Jeri Ryan (Seven of Nine) and Marina Sirtis (Deanna Troi).
January 24 in Australia on Amazon Prime Video.

Star Trek Discovery and Picard are both on CBS All Access in America so I don’t understand why they aren’t on 10 All Access here. It would be a great way to get new subscribers. To watch both series in Australia you currently need Netflix and Amazon Prime. Can only assume they make more money selling it to other platforms rather than running it on their own service. I would subscribe to 10 All Access if it had Picard and Discovery and it already has the Twilight Zone. *sigh*

$7month watch it and then cancel subscription.
Agree. It would have been great to watch Star Trek where it belongs: at 11pm midweek, half a year after it originally screened.
With it airing much later than it’s 11pm time slot. Having to add an extra hour to the VHS recording timer
And ads! Don’t forget the myriad of ad breaks, pop-ups and semi-transparent on-screen ads that would have been part of any FTA screening.
But I already have Stan , Netflix and Disney Plus not to mention Kayo , maybe I’ll try it for a month
Just remember if it follows the pattern of Star Trek Discovery it will be a weekly show and not a full season drop.
Yeah it’s weekly or that’s how it is listed on IMDb anyway Jan 24th to March 26th (US of course), so yep the 30 day free trial would need to be delayed a bit, I’m fine myself as I have Amazon on the $59 per year plan ($4.92 p/m), so keep that and drop in and out of the others.
