Spare the shiny floor budget, hang the expense of TV weddings, the cheap and cheerful First Dates returns to Seven this week with new episodes.
It’s been a while since the Aussie edition has screened new episodes, but I suspect it still has its fans.
Episode one even features former Cop Shop legend Paula Duncan!
Also coming up this season Richard Reid and James Tindale from Geordie Shore (not together…!)
It screens at 7:30pm Tuesday & Wednesday on Seven.
On First Dates, real people go on blind dates in a restaurant with a unique twist. They’ve come from right across the country to face the most intense night of their lives. Discreet cameras follow every date…and every move! They’ve been matched on their likes and dislikes. Some will sizzle. Some will crash and burn. What happens next is up to them! At the end of the night, they must decide… will they go on a second date.
Meanwhile on Wednesday Seven adds Temptation Island USA in a double episode from 8:40pm. This is a 2019 season (S4) filmed in Hawaii, hosted by Mark L. Walberg. Seven had previously announced a local edition but it has since stalled.
Temptation Island follows four dating couples at a pivotal time in their relationship, where they must mutually decide if they are ready to commit to one another for the rest of their lives — or should go their separate ways. Together, the couples travel to the tropical paradise of Maui, Hawaii, where they join 24 eligible men and women. There, they live the “single life,” in a test that is meant to help answer their most difficult questions about their relationship.

I’m sure 7’s budget can extend to a few meals and drinks as they produce a fairly decent rating show.
I said to myself, she looks a lot like Paula Duncan. Not realising she actually was.
I’m really looking forward to this being back on and hope its more like the UK version which it looks like it is from the promos. It’s fun with more of a mixed group of people. Surely the temptation Island type shows have had there day, and Seven haven’t done to well with them, this looks like it could work
I have only watched bits and pieces of First Dates so kind of has me wondering do the couples really have to pay for their own meals and drinks at the end? Do they get paid to actually be on the show?
Programming female-skewing programs against the final week of the Australian Open makes sense
They’ll definitely bag the over 50 female demographic with Paula.
