2018 UK mystery Save Me starring Lennie James & Suranne Jones is available at SBS on Demand from today.
This screened on Pay TV last April and comes from World Productions (Line Of Duty, Bodyguard). A second season has also been confirmed.
All six episodes available to stream.
From the producers of the award-winning Line Of Duty and Bodyguard, Save Me is the story of a most unlikely hero, Nelson ‘Nelly’ Rowe (Lennie James), and his search for Jody, his missing daughter. A daughter he hasn’t seen for thirteen years – more than half her life.
Nelly’s a charmer, a chancer, a lover, a fighter, a liar, and now an estranged father accused of kidnapping the daughter he’s barely ever seen. On his way to finding Jody, Nelly will save lives, find others who have been lost, reunite loved ones, make enemies from friends, risk his life and the lives of others close to him, and continually end up back on his feet after finding himself flat on his face. He’s a man that faces a stark reality, as hard as it may be to admit, that in losing his daughter, he finds himself.
James is joined by Suranne Jones (Doctor Foster, Gentleman Jack) and Stephen Graham (Line Of Duty, Boardwalk Empire).
Thursday, 30 January on SBS On Demand.

Lennie James is fine actor who is equally successful in the USA as he is in Britain but there does seem to be a bit of a trend happening recently looking at the bleak repressed side of Britain, looking at the poorer underclass, but it does provide good drama material for good actors, which I guess is what this show is all about.
Both working/criminal class stuff and aristos/ruling class stuff have been staples of British film and TV since the 40s on, sometimes in the same show eg ‘Upstairs/Downstairs’. Even the great comedies could be bleak on occasion like ‘Steptoe and Son’.
All I can say is just watch Lennie James’ performance in the last 10 minutes of the fifth episode. What an actor!
Lennie James was superb in the very first series of Line of Duty and Suranne was also great in Scott and Bailey. 2 compelling actors, L am going to give it a go
