Heads up soap fans a key episode of Days of Our Lives will screen on FOX One on Friday.

This episode marks 50 years for actor Bill Hayes as Doug Williams in the soap.

Although this hasn’t been a sustained run, he has 37 years with the show, dating back to 1970.

Airing tomorrow in the US, this sees Doug reflects on his 50 years in Salem.

“Bill Hayes and Susan Seaforth Hayes were the original supercouple of daytime drama, and we all have been so fortunate that they remain perennially vibrant and endearing as a couple to this day,” executive producer Ken Corday tells Variety.

“We were stunned and thrilled when we learned about this honor,” Hayes says. They have been working hard on crafting the perfect speech, she says.

“[Our grandson Brian] said, ‘You can either live in the past or tell them who you are today,’” Hayes says. “I told that to the guys I have lunch with on Thursdays. One said, ‘Do both. Sing a song, get the nostalgia in, and then tell ’em who you are!’”

12pm Friday on FOX One.

  1. I will be looking forward to seeing Doug’s special episode to mark his 50th year. They did one for Julie, when it was her 50th year on the show in December 2018.

  2. I swear I thought this show was cancelled a decade ago. Or was that the Young & the Restless? It isn’t The Bold and the Beautiful since that is on in the morning and afternoons.

    1. From memory, U.S. soaps One Life To Live, As The World Turns, All My Children (perhaps others) had been axed in recent years. Y&R and Days of Our Lives recently received multiple-season orders, so they aren’t going anywhere, and Bold seems to show no signs of slowing down either.

    2. You are probably thinking of when nine axed Days from there schedule after more than 40 years. That was in the last decade. Nine axed The Young and the Restless in 2007.
