ABC a preferred alternative, Nine wins Wednesday.

Ratings: Nine leads from 7pm, but ABC's Wednesday line-up edges ahead of other reality shows.

Nine won Wednesday but ABC snared 4 places in the top 10 with its strong early evening line-up.

Married at First Sight 1.06m topped the night and the demos.

Next were Hard Quiz (588,000), 7:30 (585,000), Australian Survivor (584,000) and My Kitchen Rules (416,000).

At 8:30pm was Mad as Hell (592,000) and from 9pm Doctor Doctor (540,000) and First Dates (290,000), Black Comedy (234,000) and Bull (189,000).

Nine Network won with 30.9%, Seven 24.4%, 10 20.0%, ABC 16.7% and SBS 8.0%.

Nine News drew 818,000 / 802,000 on Nine then A Current Affair (681,000) and Hot Seat (419,000 / 273,000).

Seven News won its slot with 892,000 / 892,000 for Seven then Home and Away (540,000) and The Chase (497,000 / 290,000).

The Project was 445,000 / 279,000 for 10 and 10 News First was 336,000 / 216,000.

ABC News (674,000), Adam Hills: The Last Leg (189,000) and The Drum (184,000) also comprised ABC’s night.

On SBS it was Tony Robinson’s Hidden Britain By Drone and Dublin Murders (both 228,000), SBS World News (125,000) and Project Blue Book (71,000).

NCIS again led multichannels at 193,000.

Today: 186,000
News Breakfast: 116,000 / 45,000

  3. So let me get this right.

    Yesterday TV Tonight headlined with the fact that News Breakfast had beaten Today, complete with “Today hit a new low for 2020 “.

    A mere 24 hours later Today bounces back and wallops News Breakfast by 70,000 viewers.

    Yet not a whisper in the story editorial, apart from the actual numbers.

    I am sure you do not intentionally only want to emphasise the lows of Today, but a short comment is deserving of balancing yesterday’s headline.

    1. Hi Jolly. Yesterday I led with News Breakfast success, while a lot of other media led with Karl losing. Now Nine is in front by 25k, not 70k, still not a great margin and hardly as newsy as yesterday. I try to offer the numbers on Mon -Thu and give Fridays to other morning shows.

    2. For a low key ABC show to defeat Today is newsworthy. No cash cows, no million dollar giveaways, no million dollar hosts, no click bait segments etc. The fact is that Today has gone back under 200k and looks to be in trouble again.

  5. So people are saying that Karl is not the problem at Today and if Ally was removed and replaced with a Lisa clone suddenly it would be rating. I don’t believe that for a second.

    1. Ally is very good. Very down to earth and full of personality. They just have to persist with this lineup long term. Tweak the format a bit but don’t just copy Sunrise. More opinion maybe as Rob McKnight suggested. 9 now has easier access to an array of talk back radio stars and newspaper columnists.

  6. I can hear the bells tolling in MAFS but that now echoes for a different reason on MKR ,I’ve also closed the covers on Project Blue Book as it seems to be lacking from season one.

    1. Yeah I was disappointed in PBB, it had promise but just failed to grab me, the lead character was confusing, one minute scientist, one minute MacGyver, it just seemed flat.
