Angus Sampson joins new US drama

Legal drama The Lincoln Lawyer is adapted by David E. Kelley.

Aussie Angus Sampson (Fargo, The Walking Dead, Insidious) has joined upcoming CBS drama The Lincoln Lawyer.

David E. Kelley (The Practice, Big Little Lies, Boston Legal) has adapted the show from Michael Connelly’s (Bosch) novels.  It was previously a 2011 feature with Matthew McConaughey.

The series centres on Mickey Haller, an iconoclastic idealist, who runs his law practice out of the back of his Lincoln Town Car, as he takes on cases big and small across the expansive city of Los Angeles.

Sampson will play Cisco, a former biker gang member who now serves as Mickey’s (yet to be cast) investigator, friend, and when necessary, bodyguard. Cisco is an imposing figure with a keen mind and a deep well of contacts on both sides of the law that help him do his job.

It also features Kiele Sanchez (The Glades, Kingdom).

  1. Like Angus and most David E. Kelley shows so I’ll watch this, but the lead hasn’t been cast yet which will be crucial after McConaughey‘s iconic performance.
Interesting that this is going to ahead now since a sequel couldn’t get made, wonder if the adaptation rights are expiring or if the success of Bosch got this green lit.
The Cisco character was Hector in Bosch, played by Ryan Hurst, who worked for Honey Chandler in place of Mickey Haller. Due to The Lincoln Lawyer being licensed separately the characters were unable to be used in Bosch.
