Axed: Ray Donovan

Liev Schreiber & Jon Voight drama ends at 7 seasons.

US drama Ray Donovan has been axed after seven seasons.

The cliffhanger that just concluded Season 7 will now serve as the series finale, which is unfortunate.

The series starred Liev Schreiber as a fixer for the rich and famous in Los Angeles and later in New York. Whilst he was deeply family connected, he always had a tenuous relationship with his father played by Jon Voight. The cast also included Eddie Marsan, Dash Mihok, Pooch Hall, Steven Bauer, Kerris Dorsey, Katherine Moennig, Graham Rogers and previously Paula Malcomson.

The series created by Ann Biderman was critically acclaimed, attracting received 10 Emmy nominations during its 82 episode run.

“After seven incredible seasons, Ray Donovan has concluded its run on Showtime,” the cable network said in a statement. “We are proud that the series ended amid such strong viewership and on such a powerful note. Our deepest thanks go to Liev Schreiber, Jon Voight, showrunner David Hollander and the entire cast and crew, past and present, for their dedicated work.”

Ray Donovan aired in Australia on FOX Showcase where it wrapped last month.

  1. Absolutely disgusting treatment of a long standing show. No closure whatsoever from any character. The fact it is one of my all time favourite shows makes this news even more bitter. I’m just completely in shock. Appalling.
