British dating game show Take Me Out has been axed by ITV after a decade on air.
The speed-dating series has its origins in Australia, where it was developed by Fremantle for Network 10. While its run with host James Kerley was a matter of mere weeks in 2008 it went on to become a global hit -including as China’s cult hit If You Are the One.
Seven briefly revived it locally in 2018 with Joel Creasey.
ITV simply said: “We’ve decided to say goodbye to Take Me Out.”
But fans and former contestants on the show took to Twitter with one writing: “Ten years of telly gold @PaddyMcGuinness so grateful I got to be part of such an iconic Saturday night show! #TakeMeOut.”
Beckie Louise Ryan, a contestant who got married to the man she met on the show, added: “So sad to see #TakeMeOut come to an end. I owe everything to the show, the wonderful producers, everyone backstage, @PaddyMcGuinness & the contestants of series 8. My little family wouldn’t have existed without it.”
