Eurovision contest offers 2 tix

If you have a musical knack and an Instagram account, this may be a contest for you.

If you have a musical knack and an Instagram account, you could put yourself in the running for two tickets to Eurovision at Rotterdam in May.

This year is the European Broadcasting Union’s  70th anniversary and to mark the occasion, the EBU is searching for inspired interpretations of Marc-Antoine Charpentier’s Te Deum – composed in the 17th century- which is the Eurovision anthem.

“Play it on spoons, do it as rap, folk, opera, grime or drum ‘n’ bass. Go solo, improvise a choir, go vocal, local or global – it’s your call. Above all, be creative, be different, be daring. We’re looking for entries that reflect the EBU’s public service values of universality, diversity, excellence and innovation – so the scope is endless,” they advise.

The prize for the winning entry includes two tickets to the 2020 Eurovision Song Contest in Rotterdam, hotel accommodation on the night of the Grand Final (16 May 2020) and reimbursement up to CHF 800 for travel expenses (including two flights within Europe)… NB: within Europe.

Noel Curran, Director-General, EBU, “Public service media delivers value for millions of people with dynamic, informative and entertaining content. But, for our 70th anniversary, we’re handing the creative baton to our audiences – some of the most innovative and diverse in the world.

“This is a landmark year for the EBU – in 70 years we’ve seen huge advances in technology, platforms, programming and services and will continue to do so – but creativity was, is and will always be central to what we deliver. We can’t wait to see how the public interpret this special musical challenge.”
