FOX League stars visit Bega

FOX League talent were in Bega this week, ahead of the NRL’s EISS Super Sapphire Trial Tribute match.

Former Newcastle Knights captain Danny Buderus and FOX League hosts Yvonne Sampson, Hannah Hollis and Andrew Voss visited locals and Rural Fire Services volunteers at the Cobargo Hotel, before taking to Keith Mitchell Sports Ground in Bega, to take on the locals in a free Oztag competition ahead of the Panthers vs Eels trial match tomorrow.

Danny Buderus, said: “It’s great to be able to come down early ahead of this weekend’s trial match and get out in the community. The people of Bega and the Sapphire Coast region have been through a tough time of late with the devastating bushfires and if we can bring a smile to a few faces, then that’s the least we can do.

“Rugby league has the ability to bring people together and that’s what today’s tournament is all about.”

Yvonne Sampson, said: “The power of goodwill and kindness by those who have lost everything shows how strongly connected the locals are to the place they call home for generations.

“The recovery is confronting slow, the landscape is still scared by lost homes and destroyed livelihoods. People are living in sheds and containers, we need to help them rebuild.”

Hannah Hollis, said: “It’s the stories of strength and resilience that have impacted me. It’s one thing to see it from afar but to be shown the devastation by those who survived it, is a completely different experience.

“The collective efforts from the community are so selfless and overwhelming. It’s a privilege to hear their stories and unite as a code to help in anyway we can.”

The FOX League team for the Panthers vs Eels NRL trial match at Bega Recreation Ground is led by Yvonne Sampson who is joined by Danny Buderus and former Kangaroo Steve Roach to preview all the action from 3.30pm AEDT.

Andrew Voss, alongside Roach, Buderus and Hannah Hollis will then bring fans all the action from the sold-out clash, LIVE and ad-break free during play from 4.00pm AEDT.

The Panthers v Eels clash kicks-off a big weekend of pre-season footy on FOX League with the Rabbitohs and Eels facing off in the annual Charity Shield on Saturday night LIVE at 7.00pm AEDT ahead of the Warriors v Tigers trial from Rotorua International Stadium on Sunday LIVE from 12.00pm AEDT.
