Aussie Harriet Dyer (The InBetween, The Other Guy, Love Child) now has her next US role, starring as lead in NBC single-camera comedy pilot American Auto.
The project from Justin Spitzer (Superstore), Aaron Kaplan’s Kapital Entertainment and Universal Television is set at the headquarters of a major American automotive company in Detroit, where a floundering group of executives try to rediscover the company identity amidst a rapidly changing industry.
Dyer will play Sadie, an ambitious head of communications at Payne.
She recently told TV Tonight of landing her InBetween role, “I was just this Australian girl who wandered in and gave it a swing, and they liked it. It’s like a unicorn, a hole in one… first pilot season and I got a role and it’s going ahead. That doesn’t happen much anymore so I’m pinching myself.
“It’s a rather annoying story for people who have been in LA a little while.”
An Australian broadcaster is yet to be announced.
