Jessica Marais out of Rafters revival

Bad news for Rafters fans as Jessica Marais takes further time out from performing.

Jessica Marais has dropped out of Back to the Rafters, the drama revival Seven is producing for Amazon Prime Video.

Her management RGM Artists said in a statement, “Jessica Marais has decided to step away from the new series Back to the Rafters for personal reasons.

“She thanks everyone involved on the show for their ongoing support and love, especially her ‘Rafters family’, and sends them her very best wishes for the production.”

Marais was previously cast in Nine’s Bad Mothers and later both Halifax: Retribution but also withdrew before filming for personal reasons.

Rebecca Gibney, Erik Thomson, Hugh Sheridan, Angus McLaren, Michael Caton and George Houvardas are all returning for the revival which is yet to commence production.

  1. love jessica, she always came across as ambitious with her career, so it must be serious and difficult for her to drop out of these roles. I’ll subscribe to Amazon for the first time specifically for this show. I’m curious to see what happens with Ted, his health was deteriorating fast in the final season on 7 i was sure he was getting the chop in the finale.

Not loving the title tho “back” to the rafters doesn’t make sense, and they haven’t been “away” long enough to make it such a feature of the title. what if there is a second season? the title becomes more and more irrelevant.
