Miguel Maestre wins I’m a Celebrity 2020

Chef's personality wins over the audience to be crowned King of the Jungle.

10’s own Miguel Maestre has won I’m A Celebrity Get me Out of Here.

The former Living Room chef defeated ex-AFL player Dale “Daisy” Thomas to be crowned King of the Jungle.

Showbiz royalty Rhonda Burchmore came third.

Maestre won over viewers of the show with his unabashed emotion, tears and expressive personality, often referred to as the ‘Godfather’ of the camp. He also kept his campmates fed by cooking meals every night.

For Maestre it was a victory that contrasted with his elimination first on 2019’s Dancing with the Stars. He wins $100,000 for his chosen charity RUOK? (also the chosen charity for Tanya Hennessy).

“I want to say thank you to the people I look up to, the people I love the most. That is my family, my beautiful wife Sascha, Claudia and Morgan. I want to say thank you to the family back at home supporting,” he said.

10’s series launched earlier than ever this year, on January 5, but the move paid off with improved ratings and apparently record votes. It even delivered the show’s first ever romance between Charlotte Crosby and Ryan Gallagher. More importantly, it has given upcoming shows a serious promotion platform.

10 is yet to renew the series but 10 Programming Director Daniel Monaghan recently told TV Tonight, “I’d be stunned if it wasn’t back next year.”

  1. Agreed, Miguel was a deserving winner, tbh i found him a bit over bearing on the Living Room but seems like genuinely nice guy supporting a very worth charity.
As for the actual finale show though, it was pretty lame, surely they could’ve come up with a different game to play than that shock thingo, its been done before & not very interesting. I’m glad they cut this show back to only 4 weeks, if it had still be going i likely wouldn’t bother, good summer filler though.

  2. With all respect, The TVT reader poll is not a reflection of the viewer sample nor a big enough sample of voters. I stand by my statement that TEN executives assured Miguel he would be looked after. With all respect.

    1. No it isn’t. Others (incl. bookies) were all tipping Miguel. How do we explain other years when 10 personalities went and others won the show? Happy to see some evidence, it would be a great yarn.

  3. What a joke! I’d love to see an audit of the results. He not the nice guy he portrayed on TV, but the Network assured him they had his back and would look after him, why?
Because he was nervous about being voted out early as he was in DWTS.

The show is a joke, manipulated by TEN.

  4. Congratulations to Miguel.
Seems like an all round lovely guy and gave his all at every challenge.
    A well deserved win.
The viewers definitely got it right this year with the top 3 – Rhonda, Daisy and Miguel have all been excellent ‘contestants’ and really good value. Any one of them was worthy of winning.

  5. I was very happy for Miguel especially after him being so upset when he got voted out of DWTS so early. Seems like a genuinely nice guy and how lucky were they that they had him to do all the cooking for them. Looking forward to AS tonight
