Renewed: The Good Doctor

Freddie Highmore medical drama proceeds to a fourth season.

The Good Doctor has been renewed for a fourth season.

The Good Doctor has been a cornerstone on Monday nights and is one of those special heartfelt series that fearlessly tackles inclusivity,” said ABC Entertainment president Karey Burke.

“David Shore’s thoughtful storytelling, combined with an incredible cast led by Freddie Highmore’s nuanced performance as Dr. Shaun Murphy, are what have made this series a breakout hit over the past three seasons, and I’m excited to see where they take us next.”

The current season is averaging 10.8 million US viewers in Live+7 numbers, but that climbs to 15.6 million multi-platform viewers over 35 days.

In Australia the show last screened on Seven in December.

It is due to return in Q1 at a date yet to be advised.

  1. What is the reasoning for 7’s delay in showing new episodes of S3, someone above mentioned they have shown at least 4 new episodes in the US, which is 2 weeks of dbl episodes if they wanted to catch up. Does the show not rate that well? Put it on one of the other digital channels if they are not going to air it on the main channel.

    1. Seven should at least do something. Even if it is insulting as a ‘First on 7Plus’ sort of a deal, it is better then delaying it for normal viewing Australians.

They cannot use the excuse of non ratings period anymore.
They lost me last year as a viewer, they should not want to lose more.

  2. Channel 7 is 4 episodes behind the US. (they just aired S3 EP 14, the latest ep Channel 7 have shown is S3 EP 10)

If Channel 7 want to keep its viewership for this show, they need to do better at fast tracking.
The longer they wait, the more people will use ‘other means’ to watch it.

Wait too long and perhaps ABC will want another free to air provider to provide better service to the Australian fanbase.
