SBS World Movies: Queer Cinema Week

SBS World Movies gets in a Mardi Gras mood with a collection of LGBTi movies.

Ahead of Mardi Gras celebrations, SBS World Movies has put together a collection of LGBTi movies.

Weeknights from 9.30pm from Monday, 24 February.

Erik and Erika (2018) Monday
Erik (formerly Erika) Schinegger – the ski sensation that became a media sensation. As Erika, she was celebrated. As a newly discovered Erik, he is repudiated and accused of fraud.

Adam (2019) Tuesday
Awkward, self-conscious Adam Freeman (Nicholas Alexander) has just finished his junior year of high school in 2006. When his cool older sister Casey (Margaret Qualley) suggests he visit her in New York for the summer, Adam has visions of meeting a girl and finally gaining some actual life experience. The fantasy doesn’t materialise exactly as expected.

BPM (2017) Wednesday
In Paris in the early 1990s, a group of activists goes to battle for those stricken with HIV/AIDS, taking on sluggish government agencies and major pharmaceutical companies in bold, invasive actions.

Realising that they share common foes in Margaret Thatcher, the police, and the conservative press, London-based gays and lesbians lend their support to striking miners in Wales in 1984.
