10 halts studio audiences

Updated: The Project, Studio 10, Dancing With The Stars & Australian Survivor reunion suspend crowds.

10 has responded to current concerns by halting studio audiences, effective immediately.

A 10 spokesperson told TV Tonight, “As a precautionary measure, The Project, Studio 10, Dancing With The Stars and Australian Survivor: All Stars Reunion will go audience-free for the moment. There will be no disruption to the filming or on-air broadcast of these shows.”

It follows the cancellation of the Australian Grand Prix today.

Updated: Nine tells TV Tonight, The Voice is currently not filming while Australian Ninja Warrior is still working through the impact.

A Seven spokesperson told TV Tonight, “Like many organisations, Seven West Media is operating with a range of precautionary measures in place to protect its people and operations. These are being continually evaluated and include restrictions on non-essential travel, access to sets, production units and other working sites, and the implementation of workplace plans that maximise business continuity.

“In terms of live studio audiences, decisions will be made closer to the relevant time for any such activity on the upcoming schedule.”

ABC Managing Director David Anderson sent a note to staff: “We have suspended Live audiences for any broadcast and for all locations, effective from Monday. Our teams who usually record or broadcast with a live audience are making necessary changes.

“Tours of ABC facilities, including school tours and public tours of ABC sites, including Ultimo, have been suspended until further notice.

“Non-essential visitors and meetings at ABC facilities have been suspended until further notice.

“All non-essential domestic travel will be cancelled. This follows our earlier decision to cancel any overseas travel.”

      1. A shame as I’m sure Hughesy wouldve loved to invite on comedy mates who will be short in income over coming months. RE the original topic I feel this will be much more noticeable on DWTS than the others.

  1. I think Studio 10 and the Survivor reunion will be fine without an audience. But I think The Project and DWTS will struggle a bit without an audience.

  2. Will be strange to see DWTS without an audience as the set is designed to incorporate their attendance on screen as opposed to a sitcom where the audience are never seen and can be replaced with canned laughter.
