US sci-fi comedy Future Man begins  today on SBS VICELAND.

Produced by Seth Rogen and Evan Goldberg, this stars Josh Hutcherson as an underachieving janitor who is called upon to save the world -of disease.

It also features Eliza Coupe, Derek Wilson, Ed Begley Jr., Glenne Headly, and Haley Joel Osment.

This aired in the US in 2017 and a second season aired in 2019.

Following another day as a janitor at the sexual disease research centre Kronish Labs, Josh Futturman (Josh Hutcherson) has returned to his parents’ home to play the videogame Biotic Wars. Even though he’s fanatical about the game, Josh has never gotten past level 83. However, inspired by a conversation with his boss, Dr. Elias Kronish (Kaith David), Josh finally achieves the nearly-impossible rank of Savior within the game. But instead of announcing his accomplishment to his mom and dad, Josh comes face-to- face with Tiger (Eliza Coupe) and Wolf (Derek Wilson), a pair of Biotic Wars soldiers who’ve come back in time from 2062 to ask him to help save the world.

Because Josh attained Savior status, Tiger and Wolf are certain that he’s the game’s most feared warrior, Future Man. As Josh tries to explain that they’ve made a big mistake, Tiger uses a time travel device to transport the trio to the Futturman house in 1969 – the beginning of many ventures through time and space to save the future from its impending doom.

9.30pm from Thursday, 19 March on SBS VICELAND
