Bumper numbers for ABC News

Ratings: ABC tops multichannels as news coverage continues to draw big audiences. Nine wins another week.

ABC News channel topped multichannels last week and helped ABC to its best share all year.

News events surrounding COVID-19 have seen lifts for networks across the board, spiked by Live press conferences from the PM.

Seven News was the #1 show of the week but it wasn’t enough to halt Nine from winning another week.

Breakfast TV also saw big lifts including a record second place for ABC’s News Breakfast.

Nine led the demos 16-39 and 25-54.

Nine claimed every night of the week except Friday which went to Seven. ABC bettered 10 every night except Thursday.

Nine was victorious in every city except Perth, held by Seven.

Best brands last week were:

Nine: Nine News (Sun: 1.26m), Married at First Sight (Wed: 1.21m), 60 Minutes (991,000) and Nine News COVID-19 special (Tues: 877,000).

Seven: Seven News (Sun: 1.38m), Seven News Coronavirus Special (952,000), The Chase (633,000), The Latest (619,000).

ABC: ABC News (Sun: 977,000), Doc Martin (955,000), 7:30 (863,000) and Hard Quiz (810,000),.

10: Australian Survivor (Tues: 773,000), Gogglebox (738,000), Ambulance Australia (645,000) and The Project (7pm: 595,000).

SBS: Tony Robinson’s History of Australia (253,000), Great American Railroad Journeys (249,000), The Kennedys (237,000) and Treasures Decoded (208,000).

Easter non-ratings begins for two weeks from next Sunday.

  1. While most commenters on this site seem to be focusing on 7 not being able to beat 9 this year (which I personally think was rather predictable while MAFS was on), I can’t recall if 10 has beaten ABC any week this year?
