TV Week has confirmed its annual Logie Awards will not be held as usual this year.
But it plans to proceed with voting in May for a “different format.”
Fiona Connolly, Bauer Media Group Publisher, said today: “Given the global COVID-19 pandemic the 2020 TV Week Logie Awards will not proceed as planned on the Gold Coast on Sunday, June 28, nor any of the ancillary public events.
“But we will continue with our nominations announcement and online voting campaign and are working with our partners on a TV broadcast alternative and will advise of those details when we have them.”
Connolly said that more details would be released soon but reiterated online public voting across the “Most Popular” categories is still expected to begin in May.
It isn’t clear if the event will be held in a studio format -or something else entirely.

Well, not having a ceremony at all could only be an improvement on recent years.
But also seriously, some sort of Skype type event would be a good way for the industry to show how they can adapt. And they should add in some award categories around digital video mediums to be inclusive.
Just draw the winners on TV Tonight

How will the egos survive
understandably, it had to cancel this years ceremony. As in what to do now with the 2020 Logies? Maybe just have a few stars from each network in each city’s network studio (where possible) and cross to them via satellite when their award is up?
Skype it.
Better safe than sorry. The Logies though are a night where TV’s greatest stars celebrate the past year in television.
But what if this virus is beaten by June?
What year?
Please it cannot be beaten until there is a vaccine, all we are all doing is trying to slow infections rates so hospitals are not overrun, so it’s going to be a long haul, another 12-18 months.
I blame Tom Gleeson ????
LOL ??
