The Logie Awards has dropped plans for the Most Popular Commercial in its scaled-back event for 2020.
The category was reintroduced last year as a trade trophy and had been announced for this year’s event prior to plans in upheaval.
On the weekend TV Week confirmed this year’s ceremony would not proceed on the Gold Coast but is yet to outline details of a broadcast it says is still coming.
Mumbrella reports Bauer Media will now pause its TVC category, a decision the publisher said was “difficult”.
Nominations for this year’s round of entries were due to close this week. The winner would have taken home a Logie and a $100,000 advertising package across Bauer Media’s assets.

Actors in adverts are the most underrated of all. Why shouldn’t they be recognised like every other actor???
As indicated it’s a trade award…. not for actors.
Was it that difficult? Would anybody have noticed either way?
Agree. This award wasn’t really needed anyway. So glad it is gone.
Good. A category nobody wanted anyway.
