Married at First Sight participant speaks out over death threats

Participant goes rogue following death threats as Nine warns its social media users.

Married at First Sight participant Josh Pihlak has taken to social media, going against his Nine contract, to speak out over death threats he claims were directed at his family.

Taking to Instagram, Pihlak said, “First of all I want to say that we’re not supposed to be using our social media, we’re meant to be keeping it all hush hush and quiet.

“But I think sometimes it’s better to speak up.”

“Cathy, beautiful girl, nothing against her. It just didn’t work out, it’s unfortunate.”

He indicated he was accepting of getting a bad edit from producers -and cited examples-  but drew the line at death threats sent on social media.

“The reason why I’m speaking up is because it definitely takes a toll when your mum, yourself and your little brothers are even receiving death threats.

“It isn’t cool.”

He added, “I just can’t stress enough to people who are thinking about trying out for this show, just have a good hard think.”

Nine declined to comment on his claims but overnight issued a statement on Instagram to its 289,000 followers.

  1. First thing it’s definitely not okay that anyone is receiving death threats having participated in this show.

However speaking from past experience making these types of shows, the contestants who complain the most about their portrayal in these shows, often conveniently forget all the times the producers avoid showing their most horrible behaviour, (of which there is usually hours worth) in order to to make them remotely likeable

  2. There should be a disclaimer at the start of this show saying its heavily edited and they(the production company) portray people however they want.

Want to make someone a baddie? Jjust cut out all the nice things that ever comes out of their mouth and use the small amount of bad things they do say …which is usually because they are in the pressure cooker of reality TV…. its easy to lose touch with the real reality when on a “reality” show.

  3. These people… who ignore 15 years of Past contestants and people saying “don’t go on reality shows, you will regret it” – only to go on reality shows….. then when it doesn’t go the way they wish feel the need to bite the hand that they invited to feed them and tell the world “don’t go on reality shows”…

    Zero sympathy…

  4. “I just can’t stress enough to people who are thinking about trying out for this show, just have a good hard think.” Derrrrrrr ? sort of hard to feel sympathy for people who want to expose their private lives to the world on this show. It’s no secret what the repercussions might or will be. Up to season 7 now right?
